Certified translation and document legalisation in the UAE

Urdu translation services in the UAE

Urdu files here are overwhelmingly Pakistani: NADRA civil records, HEC-verified degrees, court decrees and employment documents, each with its own verification body before the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad will touch it.

The order is unforgiving. Educational certificates need HEC or the relevant board first, civil documents need NADRA-issued versions rather than the old handwritten registers, and only then does MOFA Islamabad attest, followed by the UAE mission. Presenting a manual certificate where a NADRA computerised one is expected is the single most common reason a Pakistani file is sent back.

Nastaliq adds a practical problem that Naskh does not: the script is vertically stacked and heavily ligatured, so poor scans of stamps, seals and handwritten annotations are genuinely ambiguous rather than merely hard. We ask for high-resolution colour scans of Urdu originals, and we read seals rather than skipping them, because the seal often carries the issuing office that determines the whole attestation route.

Questions we are asked

Do you need the NADRA version of my certificate?

Usually yes. UAE authorities generally expect the computerised NADRA record rather than a manual register extract. If you only have the manual version we can tell you whether it will pass and arrange the NADRA issue if not.

Is a nikah nama accepted for a UAE family visa?

It has to be translated into Arabic and run through the full attestation chain — the relevant union council, MOFA Islamabad, then the UAE embassy and MOFAIC. We handle the translation and the UAE-side steps, and the Pakistan-side steps through partners.

My documents are handwritten in Urdu. Is that a problem?

Not in itself, but send colour scans at high resolution. Nastaliq handwriting plus a faint stamp is where errors creep in, and we would rather query a passage than guess at it.
