Attestation by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation is the last link in the chain. A foreign certificate is only usable in front of a UAE employer, university, court or immigration desk once MOFAIC has signed off on the UAE embassy stamp that came before it.
Working in Dubai
Dubai runs two parallel legal systems, and the paperwork differs between them. Onshore matters go through Dubai Courts in Arabic, where a Ministry of Justice legal translation is mandatory. DIFC operates in English under its own common-law court, which changes what needs translating and when.

The chain runs in a fixed order and skipping a step invalidates everything after it. A document issued abroad is first authenticated in its home country, then legalised at the UAE embassy or consulate in that country, and only then attested by MOFAIC inside the UAE. Documents issued in the UAE and destined abroad run the chain in reverse, starting with MOFAIC.

Where a certificate has already been part-processed — a common situation when someone started the process themselves and stalled — we audit what is on the page and tell you honestly which steps still remain.
Practical constraints worth knowing: MOFAIC will not attest a photocopy, documents with a printed rather than wet signature are frequently rejected, and certificates older than a certain age sometimes need a fresh issue from the source authority. We check for these before submission rather than after.

No. The UAE is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so documents for use here go through full consular legalisation and MOFAIC attestation rather than a single apostille certificate.

The MOFAIC step itself is usually a matter of days. The earlier links in the chain — home-country authentication and UAE embassy legalisation abroad — are what determine the overall timeline, and they vary widely by country.
Do I need to hand over my original certificate?
Yes, attestation is applied to the physical document. We issue a receipt, track the file and return it by courier or in person.
