Working in Umm Al Quwain

The smallest emirate by population runs a free trade zone that is popular with small trading and consultancy companies, often owned by a single foreign shareholder. Company documents for these entities regularly need to be legalised for use where the owner actually lives, and that is most of what we handle here.

Because Umm Al Quwain has fewer counter services of its own than Dubai or Abu Dhabi, most files still have to travel for embassy and ministry steps. We collect documents locally and run the submissions elsewhere, which spares a set of round trips down the E11.

Interpreting

We assign by subject as well as by language. An arbitration in construction and a clinical consultation both need Arabic, but they need different vocabulary and a different register, and an interpreter who is out of their depth is worse than no interpreter. Where terminology matters we ask for the file in advance so the interpreter arrives prepared.

Simultaneous interpreting for conferences is booked with equipment — booths, receivers, technician — as a single arrangement. Consecutive interpreting suits depositions, negotiations and appointments where accuracy matters more than speed. For notary and court appointments the interpreter must often be licensed to appear, and we assign accordingly.

Remote interpreting works well for short sessions and for connecting participants across time zones. It works less well for full-day multi-party proceedings, and we will tell you when the on-site option is worth the difference.
